Ghazwa refers to the battles of the early years of Islam in which the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) himself was present, whether he had a military encounter in them or not. The most important ghazwas include the battles of Badr, Uhud and Khandaq.
Ghazwa is an Arabic word which can be translated as War, Battle, or Fight. In Islamic history, the term Ghazwa typically refers to the wars between Muslims and disbelievers that happened during the earlier years of Islam, specifically those in which the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) was personally present for the protection of the Muslims.
